At Goodwill of South Central Wisconsin, we’re always looking for ways to better serve our community. That’s why we’re excited to announce the opening of our newest store on the west side of Madison on June 5, 2025. This new location is not just a store; it’s a step forward in making donations easier, improving access to affordable goods, and providing more opportunities for local employment and workforce development.
Why the West Side of Madison?
“Choosing the West Towne area was an easy decision for us,” said Matt Weiss, Director of Operations at Goodwill. “The community here is densely populated, making donating and shopping more convenient for everyone. It’s an area that aligns well with our mission to provide accessible donation drop-off points and affordable shopping experiences.”
The decision was driven by a combination of community demand, accessibility, and proximity to local donors and shoppers. “We’ve been able to partner with Colliers to find the perfect location, and Findorff has been a fantastic partner in bringing our vision to life,” Matt added. “We believe this location will be a self-sustaining hub for donations and shopping, and we can’t wait for it to open.”
Economic and Employment Impact
The new West Towne store will create 25 full-time and part-time jobs, with more potential for growth as the store establishes itself in the community. Available roles will include store manager, assistant store manager, supervisors, production workers, and donation attendants. These positions will help support Goodwill’s mission while offering valuable employment opportunities in the region.
Supporting Our Community and the Environment
This new store also plays a crucial role in Goodwill’s environmental efforts. “By reselling gently used items, we’re able to divert thousands of pounds of goods from landfills each year,” said Matt. “The West Towne store will process 50,000 to 60,000 individual donations annually, helping to build a more sustainable future for our community.”
The store’s design will also provide an improved shopping experience, with natural lighting, energy-efficient LED fixtures, and new in-store fixtures that will make it a welcoming space for customers.
Looking Ahead
“Ultimately, our goal with this store is to make a positive impact on the Madison community,” Matt shared. “We want to provide great service every day and continue to give back to our mission of offering jobs, housing, and employment services for people in our 14-county region.”
The West Towne store is just the beginning. As Goodwill continues to grow, we’re excited to see how this new location fits into our broader long-term strategy to expand our mission and create even more opportunities for those who need them most.
