Goodwill’s Commitment to Sustainability
As we approach Earth Day 2025, it’s an opportune time to reflect on the positive environmental impact that Goodwill of South Central Wisconsin continues to make. Sustainability is at the core of our operations, and through our partnerships, initiatives, and commitment to responsible recycling practices, we’re not just supporting our community—we’re helping to protect the planet.
Goodwill’s Environmental Impact: A Commitment to Sustainability
Goodwill is proud to be part of a larger effort aimed at reducing waste and promoting sustainability. By partnering with local, national, and international organizations like Dell Technologies, Desert Wireless, Pellitteri, Habitat for Humanity and others, we work hard to divert as many materials as possible from landfills. From old clothing and household items to electronic devices and packaging materials, we ensure that donations find new life either through resale or recycling. As Joe Cheramy, Warehouse and Sustainability Manager, explains,” We’re always striving to create sustainable solutions for the items that come our way.” For us, it’s about giving these items a second chance—whether it’s reselling them in our stores, through e-commerce, or recycling them responsibly.
Key Partnerships that Fuel Our Sustainability Efforts
Our recycling partnerships are key to our sustainability goals. We collaborate with the Dell Reconnect program to safely and responsibly recycle computer components, and we’ve established strong relationships with Pellitteri to manage the recycling of metals, plastics, and cardboard. These partnerships help us expand our recycling capabilities and ensure that items are processed in the most responsible way possible. As Joe puts it, “Because we’ve built these long-term partnerships with reliable and responsible businesses, we have stability and peace of mind that all recycled items are properly salvaged.” Together, we’re creating a lasting impact by diverting more materials from the landfill. You can help too! On Saturday, April 26th, we are once again partnering with Hilldale Shopping Center for an Earth Day electronics recycling and donation drive.
